Estelle Konik x Tandem de Trad.
(French - Spanish or Spanish - French translation )
It all begins with a simple question.
Every year, on several occasions, the same question reaches my ears, “Estelle, would you happen to know a good translator to take care of my script/commission application?” And the answer to this question, asked by producers and distributors, is in the negative. “No. So sorry."
I had, of course, come across some bilingual and trilingual people. In fact, I’m trilingual myself, having had the chance to live in a few countries (5, soon 6). But did I know a truly good translator, who is meticulous and knows how to handle the subtleties of the language(s) in question? Nope. I didn’t know a single one. A good translator is so hard to find.

A discussion ensues.
That is until one day, Clara Cirera, actress, told me about another business that she developed with her partner, Léonie Castel.
Tandem de Trad (created in 2020 by Clara and Léonie during the height of Covid) is a French to Spanish (and vice-versa) translating duo with a specialization in the written and visual arts, such as theater, film, festivals, you name it.
A collaboration forms.
So, naturally, I asked this duo to collaborate with me. I knew that working with them would meet the needs of my contacts because:
➡️Clara and Léonie are a mixed team (one is Spanish, the other French - I’ll let you guess which one’s which). In other words, no matter the content of the translation, every text is translated, read, corrected, and overseen by a native speaker.
➡️Clara and Léonie both lived in their host countries for many years. These aren’t just some sedentary translators.
➡️Clara et Léonie ont vécu de longues années dans leur pays d’accueil (ce ne sont pas des traductrices sédentaires) .
➡️ More importantly (at least to me), Clara and Léonie are seasoned actresses. These actor friends of ours are not only knowledgeable about literature and cinematography, they also know how to make the scrips speak. After all, they are the ones who interpret them!
What about their services? ?
Léonie and Clara translate all kinds of content destined for TV and cinemas, including synopsis, story treatments, full-length features, short films, commission applications, pitches etc.
